South Africa veteran player David Miller was sold to Delhi Capitals for ₹2 crore at the IPL Auction, underlining just how valuable the he remains in T20 cricket.

Miller had entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore, the highest bracket for overseas players.

The sale came after Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) released Miller ahead of the IPL 2026 auction cycle. The explosive left-handed batter was brought by the franchise for INR 7.50 crore, but had an underwhelming campaign with the bat.

He achieved a milestone by scoring his 3000th IPL run in April, demonstrating explosive hitting with a 192.86 strike rate in one match, but later in the season, his finishing impact was inconsistent, with some reports noting a lower strike rate in the initial balls faced as a finisher for LSG, despite his overall career success.

With a massive demand for proven overseas players and a limited supply, Miller emerged as one of the marquee names for auction.

He recently returned from injury to feature in the T20I series against India, where he scored a cameo of 20 runs off 12 balls in South Africa's convincing win in Mullanpur in the second match.
