NEW DELHI: The ninth season of the T20 tournament Indian Premier League ( IPL) achieved a cumulative reach of 266 million viewers in its second week across three channels—Sony Max, Sony Six and Sony ESPN, according to data from official broadcaster Sony.

The first week had a cumulative reach of 218 million viewers.

The tournament has seen 43% of its reach coming from rural viewers. 46% of the viewership of the IPL on Sony channels has been from female viewers. In terms of the audience profile, IPL is the most watched amongst the age group of 22 to 30.

For the IPL on television, the top performing markets are Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka & Gujarat.

In the first week, the highest rated match was the one between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which clocked 24.137 million impressions, or in other words viewers, at any given point of time during the telecast. The second most watched game was between Rising Pune Supergiants and Mumbai Indians with 24.12 million impressions.
