IPL 2026: Shreyas Iyer will have to pay a penalty for what happened in match against Gujarat Titans
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined ₹12 lakh after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.

The penalty comes under Article 2.22 of the Indian Premier League Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences. As this was Punjab Kings’ first such breach of the season, Iyer was handed a fine of ₹12 lakh.

On the field, PBKS registered a hard-fought win over Gujarat Titans in Match No. 4 of the season. After being put in to bat, GT posted a competitive total, with skipper Shubman Gill anchoring the innings.

Chasing the target, Punjab Kings faced a few tense moments despite a solid middle-order effort. Despite the win and the two points, the slow over-rate proved costly for PBKS, with Iyer becoming the first captain this season to be fined for the offence.
