Shreyas Iyer (Captain)

At the helm, Iyer’s role extends beyond just anchoring the batting. He is expected to bring structure to a side that has often struggled with consistency. A proven IPL captain who has previously led a team to the final, Iyer’s strength lies in pacing an innings and stabilising the middle order after early setbacks. His ability to handle spin and rotate strike makes him key on slower surfaces, while his leadership will be critical in managing a relatively diverse squad.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep remains Punjab’s most dependable pace option, particularly in the death overs. Known for his accurate yorkers and composure under pressure, he has consistently been among the team’s leading wicket-takers in recent seasons. His role will be to contain runs at the back end and provide crucial breakthroughs, especially against set batters. With the new ball as well, he can generate swing, making him a dual-phase threat.

Yuzvendra Chahal

One of the IPL’s leading wicket-takers, Chahal brings both experience and control to the spin department. His ability to outthink batters and pick wickets in the middle overs often shifts momentum in tight games. On pitches that assist turn, he could be Punjab’s primary strike bowler, tasked with breaking partnerships and slowing the scoring rate.

Marcus Stoinis

Stoinis offers crucial balance as a seam-bowling all-rounder. With the bat, he is a powerful finisher capable of accelerating in the final overs, while also flexible enough to bat higher up if required. His medium pace provides an additional bowling option, allowing the team to rotate bowlers effectively. His experience in global T20 leagues makes him a key utility player in high-pressure situations.

Marco Jansen

Jansen adds variety to the bowling attack with his left-arm angle and extra bounce, particularly useful on Indian surfaces that occasionally assist seamers early on. He can operate with the new ball as well as in the middle overs, and his ability to contribute with the bat down the order strengthens the team’s depth. His all-round capabilities make him a valuable tactical asset.

Together, this group forms the backbone of Punjab Kings’ campaign, with the team relying on a blend of leadership, bowling strength and all-round depth to push for a more consistent run in the tournament.
