IPL 2026 GT Review: Check past wins, records, statistics, key moments
Gujarat Titans enter IPL 2026 with a strong top order led by Shubman Gill, but fielding frailties and a lack of middle-order depth were concerns last season. The addition of all-rounder Jason Holder aims to bolster their balance with his multi-pha...

Here are three key areas in focus for GT ahead of the new season:
TOP-HEAVY ENGINE
Gujarat Titans relied heavily on their top order in IPL 2025, with Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler forming one of the most productive top threes in the tournament. The trio averaged a combined 55.05 and accounted for over 70 per cent of the team’s total runs.

Gill and Sudharsan put together seven partnerships of 50 or more, including three century stands, setting the tone consistently at the top. However, this dependence meant the middle and lower order had limited opportunities, which became a concern when early wickets fell in crucial matches.
FIELDING FRAILTIES
Fielding proved to be a weak link for Gujarat Titans last season. The side dropped 28 catches in 15 matches — the highest by any team.
The lapses were costly, especially in the Eliminator against Mumbai Indians, where Rohit Sharma was dropped twice early and went on to score 81 off 50 balls, helping his team secure a decisive win.
Unexpectedly, Rashid Khan, usually among the safest fielders, accounted for 10 dropped catches, underlining the broader issues in execution.
NEW ALL-ROUND EDGE
Jason Holder adds depth as a multi-phase all-round option. Since 2025, he has been among the most effective bowlers at the death in T20Is, picking up 19 wickets at an economy rate of 9.21.
At the recent ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Holder underlined his versatility, taking 10 wickets across different phases, including key spells in the middle overs and at the death.
His ability to contribute with both bat and ball could help address the balance issues that Gujarat Titans faced last season.
