While Jacks had returned to India ahead of MI's final two group-stage games, he will be unavailable for the season's conclusion as his national team, England, face West Indies at home for ODI series starting from May 29.
As for Rickelton and Corbin Bosch, its the national duties that call, too. The two players are set to miss the playoffs as Cricket South Africa has requested members of their World Test Championship final squad to return home by May 27.
Jonny Bairstow played a crucial role in England’s victorious 2019 ODI World Cup campaign and has earned 287 international caps for his country. In IPL, Bairstow has made a strong impact over five seasons, featuring in 50 matches. He represented Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2019 to 2021 before joining Punjab Kings for the 2022 and 2024 seasons.
With 1,589 runs at an average of 34.54 and a strike rate of 144.45, Bairstow has established himself as a dynamic top-order batter. He has notched up two IPL centuries, one of which came in a record-breaking run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens last year.
Meanwhile, English pacer Richard Gleeson, known for his effectiveness in the death overs, has featured in six T20 Internationals. At 37, he made his IPL debut last year with Chennai Super Kings, appearing in two matches.
As the league phase nears its end, Mumbai Indians sit fourth on the points table with seven wins and five losses. They are set to play their final two group matches against Delhi Capitals on May 21 and Punjab Kings on May 26.
