Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli scored a crucial half century while chasing the target set by defending champions, KKR, in opening clash of IPL 2025 at Eden Gardens.

Earlier, Virat Kohli was honoured with the "IPL 18" memento by BCCI president Roger Binny during the IPL 2025 opening ceremony.

Kohli, who has been with RCB since the IPL's inception and captained the team from 2011 to 2023, is the tournament's highest run-scorer, with a record 8,004 runs in 252 matches. His outstanding tally includes eight centuries and 55 half-centuries.

Despite a brilliant 2016 season where he scored 973 runs with four centuries, Kohli is yet to lift the IPL trophy, underlining the unpredictable nature of team sport.
