IPL 2025: DC bowling coach Munaf Patel fined 25% of match fees. What did he do?

Delhi Capital bowling coach Munaf Patel has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday.

Though the reason was not specified, it is possible that the fine is because Patel had a heated argument with the fourth umpire after being denied sending a player to enter the ground to convey his message.

The former India pacer admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20, which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game, and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.


For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.

The match between DC and RR went down to the wire and the first Super Over of the season was played after the two teams were tied at 188 runs.

DC's Mitchell Starc defended nine runs in the final over to force a Super Over. The Australian pacer also bowled in the Super Over and conceded 11 runs, before RR lost two wickets in two balls. DC chased the target of 12 runs with two balls to spare.

DC are now at the top of the points table with five wins in six matches, while RR are eighth with just two wins in seven matches.
