IPL 2025 Auction: Jos Buttler to join Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans

Jos Buttler has been sold to Gujarat Titans for a staggering Rs 15.75 crore, marking a significant shift in his career as he moves on from Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2025 IPL tournament.

The decision by the Royals to release Buttler took many by surprise, ushering in a new era for both the franchise and the prolific England captain.

Expressing his gratitude to Rajasthan Royals after the recent IPL Retentions, Buttler reflected on his journey with the team that began in 2018, which he describes as the pivotal years of his cricketing career.


His departure signifies the end of an era for Rajasthan Royals, who will feel the void left by Buttler's explosive batting and leadership.

Buttler's statistics in the IPL speak volumes of his talent. With a total of 11,929 runs, including eight centuries and 83 fifties in 427 T20 matches, he is recognized as one of the finest white-ball batters of this generation.

During his tenure with Rajasthan Royals from 2018 to 2024, Buttler amassed 3,055 runs at an impressive average of 41.84 and a strike rate of 147.79, featuring seven centuries and 18 fifties, with his highest score being 124. He ranks as the team’s third-highest run-scorer of all time.

His standout performance came during IPL 2022 when he led the run-scoring charts with 863 runs in 17 matches, averaging 57.53 and hitting four centuries, including a top score of 116. Last season, he added 359 runs in 11 matches, with two more centuries to his name.

Prior to his time with RR, Buttler played for Mumbai Indians from 2016-17, where he contributed 527 runs in 24 matches and won a title in 2017.
