Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday bought India pacer Harshal Patel for Rs 8 crore in the IPL 2025 Auction at Jeddah. The franchise had got him for Rs 6.50 crore but Punjab Kings used their Right to Match card. However, SRH rose the bid to Rs 8 crore and PBKS refused to buy him back.

Patel, known for his death bowling, joins Mohammed Shami and Pat Cummins at SRH.

Patel began his IPL career in 2012 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, he travelled to several teams, before gaining recognition in 2021 when he rejoined RCB and took 32 wickets, earning the Purple Cap for most wickets in a season. He repeated this achievement in 2024 while playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS) with 24 wickets. Overall, Patel has 135 IPL wickets in 106 matches.
