In a thrilling mega auction held on Sunday, a total of 84 players (72 sold and 12 unsold) went under the hammer on the first day of the IPL mega auction on Sunday with teams going all out to make big deals in Jeddah.

The auction saw teams aggressively pursuing marquee Indian players, resulting in record-breaking prices.

Rishabh Pant emerged as the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), securing a staggering bid of Rs 27 crore from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Pant, who previously played for the Delhi Capitals, surpassed Shreyas Iyer, who commanded a bid of Rs 26.75 crore from the Punjab Kings.

Iyer, who captained the Kolkata Knight Riders to victory earlier this year, made waves in the auction as the first player to break the previous record set by Mitchell Starc. However, Pant's exceptional skills and leadership potential pushed his value even higher.

Despite Delhi Capitals retaining the Right to Match clause for Pant at Rs 20.75 crore, they decided not to match LSG's final bid, allowing the wicketkeeper-batsman to join his new team as a likely captain.
