IPL 2024: How Dhoni-Jadeja team up to play hilarious prank on Chennai fans

Ravindra Jadeja, a livewire on the field who could grab those gravity-defying catches in the field and also bamboozle the best batters with his terffic bowling, is one all-rounder any team would love to have. But there is another side to this immensely talented cricketer, which we see every now and then, and it was on full display during Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s last Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In that contest, CSK's former skipper and superstar wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni and Jadeja took Chennai fans by surprise by playing a prank, which left many in splits.

Now, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Tushar Deshpande has disclosed the details of how Dhoni played a joke on the audience during the match in which his team defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets.

In a video shared by IPL, Tushar spilled the beans on how MS Dhoni played a trick on the CSK audience by asking Jadeja to pretend that he was going out to bat even though MS went out to bat in the end.


With three runs remaining to complete the victory, Shivam Dubey got out in the 17th over, and the audience began to roar in anticipation of Dhoni's arrival to finish the match. But Jadeja took the lead to move ahead of Dhoni; actually, he pretented to walk out to bat but turned back immediately to dugout with a huge smile on his face. Just then, Dhoni walked out to bat, and the Chennai crowd went berserk. In the end, Dhoni took the field and scored just one run as Gaikwad finished off the inning.



"Dhoni bhai instructed Jaddu (Jadeja) bhai, 'I will go for batting, but you just act like you are going.'" I overheard that in the changing room," Tushar said.

"He just showed a glimpse of himself out in the middle, and fans got their money's worth," Jadeja added.
