Indian National Drag Racing Championship on August 30-31

COIMBATORE: Over 250 cars and bikes would be seen in action in the first two rounds of the JK Tyre-FMSCI Indian National Drag Racing Championship 2014 to be held at the famed Kari Motor Speedway, near here, from August 30-31.

The event is being conducted by city-based Spitfire Motorsports Pvt. Ltd. in association with Hyderabad'a Speedway Motorsports.

On August 30, an autocross event will be held and many of the vehicles entered for the drag races are also expected to participate.

Cars and bikes from places like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Madurai, Tuticorin, Nagercoil and Kerala have already assembled here for the event.

The big cars among the four wheelers that would be seen in action are the Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Mercedes SLK, Audi R8 and Porsche. Among the two-wheelers, the attractions would be the machines from BMW, Yamaha, Honda and others.

The prominent names in the fray for top honours include Hyderabad racers Prabhu (four-wheeler Open champion), Arun (four-wheeler Indian Open and Foreign class champion) and Bangalore's Khalim Pasha (champion last year in the Indian Open and imported bikes categories) among others.
