Indian football legend Tulsidas Balaram dies aged 87
Tulsidas Balaram, a member of Indian football's 'holy trinity' in the prosperous 1950s and 1960s, died here on Thursday after a long illness, according to sources close to his family.

He was hospitalized last year
On December 26, last year, the 1962 Asian Games champion was admitted to the hospital for treatment of a urinary infection and abdominal distension.

Between 1955 and 1963, he had an eight-year career before succumbing to tuberculosis at the age of 27. He made his international debut against Yugoslavia at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, where India finished fourth, and went on to play 36 matches for India, scoring 10 times, including four in the Asian Games.
