India opened their medal account in the fourth Asian Beach Games with squash players Kush Kumar and Aparajitha Balamurugan bagging a bronze each on the fourth day of competitions here today.

PHUKET: India opened their medal account in the fourth Asian Beach Games with squash players Kush Kumar and Aparajitha Balamurugan bagging a bronze each on the fourth day of competitions here today.

Kumar and Aparajitha lost the men's and women's singles squash semifinals respectively to win a bronze each.

18-year-old Kumar lost to Yip Tsz Fung of Hong Kong, China 0-2 (6-7, 2-7) while Aparajitha, 20, also went down by an identical scoreline (4-7 6-7) to Tong Tsz Wing, also of Hong Kong.

India is also assured of at least a silver in the men's singles squash with Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu making it to the final after beating Muhammad Asim Khan of Pakistan 2-0 (7-1 7-1) in the other semifinal.
