India to host Sri Lanka for five women's T20Is from December 21 to 30

The Indian women’s cricket team will return to action later this month with a five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram from December 21 to 30, the BCCI announced on Friday. The fixtures come just days after India’s scheduled home series against Bangladesh was postponed due to political tensions between the two countries.

This will be the first for the Women in Blue since their triumphant ODI World Cup campaign earlier this year.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the schedule for the upcoming Women's T20I series as India hosts Sri Lanka for a five-match contest next month. The series will begin in Visakhapatnam before moving to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining fixtures,” the board said in a statement.


India were originally slated to face Bangladesh during the same window before the tour was called off.

The upcoming series marks Sri Lanka’s first T20I bilateral tour to India since 2016, when the hosts swept the visitors 3-0. India last played a T20I series in July, notching a historic 3-2 victory in England -- their first-ever series win there.
