India beat New Zealand by seven wickets in the second T20I on Friday to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Chasing 208, India recovered from an early setback to finish at 209 for 3 in 15.2 overs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav anchored the chase with an unbeaten 82 off 37 balls, while Ishan Kishan provided momentum with 76 off 32 deliveries. Shivam Dube added 36 off 18 balls as India completed the chase with 28 balls to spare.

India were briefly under pressure after losing two wickets for six runs in the second over, but the Kishan–Suryakumar partnership turned the game decisively in the hosts’ favour.


Earlier, New Zealand posted 208 for 6 after being asked to bat. Rachin Ravindra top-scored with 44 off 26 balls as the visitors made a strong start, supported by quick contributions from the top order. India’s bowlers, however, managed to check the scoring in the middle overs.

Mitchell Santner provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 47 off 27 balls to push New Zealand past the 200-run mark. For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 35.
