India needs 240 runs to win ICC world cup semi final against New Zealand
New Zealand today set a target of 240 runs for India in the first semi-final of 2019 ICC cricket world cup. Resuming from 211-5 score from 46.1 overs, the Kiwis managed to add just 29 runs to their overnight score.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets in the penultimate over to finish with a three-wicket haul.

The play was stopped yesterday due to continuous rains. Ross Taylor was 67 not out and Tom Latham was at 3 when the play was stopped. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had won the toss and decided to bat first. Kane Williamson scored a fighting 95-ball 67 as the Kiwi batsmen found the going extremely tough on the slow wicket on offer.

Yesterday, match officials waited for more than four hours while rain stopped and started before deciding to take the game to the rest day.

Although there is a forecast of more rains today, the hope is the match will be able to completed as normal, without the need to reduce overs and revise targets under the Duckworth-Lewis method for weather-affected matches.

But, if rain still affect the game, as per the rain rules of the International Cricket Council for the semi-finals and final, if there is no result on the scheduled match day, play will continue on the reserve day, using the same start time and hours of play as the scheduled match day. The reserve day will be a continuation not a restart. Any advantage earned on the scheduled day will be carried through to the reserve day.

A tied match will use a super over to determine the winner. If after the scheduled day and reserve day the semi-final match has still not reached a result, the higher placed team from the league stage will progress to the final.
