As Australia was trying to survive in the recent India-Australia series, a controversy erupted as the on-field umpire Virender Sharma was hit by a shot from Nathan Ellis on the field.

Australia was in a tense situation when the ball hit the umpire. The team at that time needed 9 runs to win from 2 balls and the commentators thought that the ball could have potentially gone to the boundary if it did not hit Sharma.




Australia skipper Matthew Wade's expression at the time when the ball hit the umpire has gone viral online. His team lost the game by six runs in the match played in Bengaluru.
