IND vs SA 2nd ODI: Raipur pitch report and weather updates for India vs South Africa clash
After a thrilling high-scoring encounter in Ranchi on Sunday, India will look to continue their winning momentum against South Africa in the second ODI at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur today on Wednesday. With a 17-run victory in the series opener, the Men in Blue are now aiming to seal the three-match series with a game to spare.

The first ODI saw India post a massive 349/8, thanks to stellar performances from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The Rohit-Kohli duo stitched together a second-wicket partnership of 136 runs, helping India recover from an early stumble. Rohit scored 57 before getting out, while Kohli went on to register his 52nd ODI century, finishing with 135 off 120 balls.

South Africa’s innings began on a rough note as they lost three wickets for just 11 runs in the powerplay, with pacer Harshit Rana striking twice early. However, the Proteas’ middle and lower order capitalised on good batting conditions and evening dew to take the match to the final over, making for a nail-biting finish.

The big question now is whether Raipur’s pitch will favour batters as much as Ranchi’s did, and how the weather might impact play.

Raipur Cricket Stadium Pitch Report

Historically, Raipur’s Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium has offered mixed conditions for batsmen. In the only ODI played here in January 2023, India dismissed New Zealand for just 108 and won comfortably by eight wickets in little over 20 overs. The lone T20I at this venue later in December 2023 saw India post 174 and secure a narrow 17-run victory over Australia.

The black soil pitch in Raipur is expected to be more balanced than the record-breaking batting track at Ranchi, which saw a combined total of 682 runs. While it may not produce the same high scores as Ranchi, it is unlikely to be a bowler-friendly surface either, offering fair conditions for both sides.

Evening conditions will remain comfortable for players and spectators alike, with the temperature dropping below 20°C only after 9 pm, by which time the match is likely to be approaching its conclusion.

Fans can expect an uninterrupted day of cricket, making it a perfect setting for India to aim for a series-clinching win.
