New Zealand on Sunday registered a historic Test win in India after 36 years as the beat the hosts by eight wickets in the first Test at Bengaluru in a rain curtailed match.

Chasing a modest total of 107 to win, New Zealand started the day on a bad note, losing a wicket of the second ball. However, Will Young battled a stunning spell of fast bowling from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj to reamain unbeaten on 48. Rachin Ravindra followed up his first innings century with 39 not out off just 46 balls.

India were bowled out for 46 in the first innings before making an incredible comeback in the second, with the help of a century from Sarfaraz Khan and half centuries from Rishabh Pant (99), Virat Kohli (70) and Rohit Sharma (52).


New Zealand banked on Rachin Ravindra's 134, Conway's 91 and Southee's quickfire 65 to post 402 in the first innings. Trailing by 366 runs, Indian batters put up a strong fight to set a target of 107 for New Zealand.
