India will take on England in the third and the final ODI against England at Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The match will mark the end of India's Champions Trophy build-up.

India suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final of the ODI World Cup in 2023 the last time they played in the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The team has gotten a boost with captain Rohit Sharma returning to form in the second ODI. His 90-ball 119 was a source of relief to the side, fans and most importantly himself. He had a string of low scored prior to the innings.

Kohli, on the other hand, has struggled for runs even though he has not looked completely out of sorts. He has not played long enough to give himself a chance for a big innings.

If he manages to gain his form, Kohli is in with a chance create another record. He is 89 runs short of becoming only the third batter in history to score 14,000 runs in the format.

India has not put a foot wrong in the series so far. The addition of Varun Chakravarthy has given additional ammunition to their lethal spin attack which will be vital for the Champions Trophy and Mohammed Shami's return after lengthy injury layoff has been seamless. However, the team will expect better application and results from wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, who is going through a lean patch.

Shami's successful comeback has been assuring, given that premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah's availability for the Champions Trophy hangs by a thread.

However, for Jos Butter's England, this tour has raised more questions than they would have expected.

England have suffered repeated collapses in their batting across the T20Is and ODIs. The middle-order has often undone the impressive work that the opening pair of Phil Salt and Ben Duckett has been putting up.

Buttler maintains his team remains a work in progress but exit of the talented Jacob Bethell due to injury hampers them further.

Ind vs Eng: Narendra Modi Stadium pitch report

Going by the history of the pitch at the stadium, it is expected to assist bowlers. Out of the 31 ODIs that the venue has hosted, teams have surpassed the 300-run mark only six times. Pacers have taken 257 wickets at an average of 32.31, while spinners have scalped 137 wickets at 36.97. Toss does not matter a lot as teams batting first have won 15 matches, whereas the teams chasing have won 16 games.

Ind vs Eng: Ahmedabad weather report

The weather is expected to be pleasant without any rains. Temperatures will hover at around 28 degree Celsius when the match starts at 1.30 pm and will drop to 25 degree Celsius as the evening progresses.
