India vs England 4th Test Cricket Match Pitch Report and Weather Forecast Update: The fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford, Manchester, is a make-or-break encounter for Team India. With England securing a narrow victory in a thrilling Lord’s Test, the hosts now lead the five-match series 2-1. A loss in Manchester would confirm a series defeat for India, making this a must-win game for the visitors.

Injury Troubles Hit India Hard

India enters the fourth Test grappling with multiple injury setbacks. Jasprit Bumrah, whose workload management remains a constant concern, is under the spotlight again. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who delivered vital performances in the second and third Tests, has been ruled out for the remainder of the series.

Rishabh Pant’s fitness is also in question—after sustaining an injury during the third Test, he was unable to keep wickets for a significant portion of the match. Additionally, pacer Akash Deep has been sidelined with an injury, further limiting India's bowling options.

Rain Clouds Hover Over Manchester

Adding to India’s challenges, the weather in Manchester has been far from ideal. The team arrived in the city under persistent rainfall, which has been a regular feature over the past week. Light showers are expected across all five days of the Test, with a high chance of disruptions.
Day 1 Forecast: 65% chance of rain, temperatures between 14°C and 19°C
Day 2 Forecast: Rain probability climbs to 85%, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 21°C
Day 3 & 4: Conditions improve slightly with lower rain chances
Day 5: A 40% chance of rain could still lead to interruptions

Rain delays are likely, especially on the first two days, potentially affecting playing time.

Old Trafford Pitch Report

The conditions at Old Trafford are expected to favor the fast bowlers early on due to the moisture in the pitch and overcast skies. The humid weather could help the pacers swing the ball, making the opening sessions especially challenging for batters.

However, the pitch at Old Trafford typically dries out over time, bringing spinners into play. Former England captain Mike Atherton has noted that India's wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav could be a key asset in these conditions. That said, the damp weather might also prompt India’s management—including Shubman Gill and mentor Gautam Gambhir—to consider recalling pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy.
