India and Australia are gearing up for the much-anticipated five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting November 22 in Perth. This marks the first five-Test series between the two cricketing powerhouses in over 30 years.

After Ajinkya Rahane-led squad defeated the 'mighty' Ozs in 2020-21 series, the Indian team, which is now fairly new, will look to continue its domination on the Australian soil, this time too.

India, fresh off consecutive series wins in Australia (2018-19 and 2020-21), aims for a third straight triumph. However the Rohit Sharma & Co. will have to shake off the shameful 3-0 defeat against New Zealand at home, earlier this month.

India will miss captain Rohit Sharma for the first Test due to personal reasons, with vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah stepping in as skipper. Shubman Gill is also unavailable owing to a finger injury. Devdutt Padikkal, initially part of the India A squad, has been added as a batting backup.

Ind vs Aus: What's at stake?

To secure direct qualification for the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s, India must win all five Tests in the series.

Meanwhile, Australia, buoyed by their WTC final and ODI World Cup victories over India, will look to reclaim the trophy. With Aussies striving to end a decade-long winless streak at home and India eyeing dominance, the stage is set for a high-stakes cricketing spectacle.
