ICC World Twenty20: India face selection dilemma

The Indians are on a high after four victories on the trot, but finding the right team combination and an unfortunate injury to Yuvraj Singh will worry the camp as they go into the second semi-final of the ICC World Twenty20 against South Africa. While the Indian team management will be hoping that Yuvraj recovers from his ankle injury, selecting the final eleven is tricky.

Ajinkya Rahane as replacement for Shikhar Dhawan, who’s found his touch elusive, and Mohit Sharma, who had replaced Mohammed Shami in the last match against Australia, are points of contention. However, if Yuvraj does not recover, both are likely to play.

The South Africans will be wary of the India’s spin attack. The challenge posed by Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin will compound the threat posed by India’s familiarity with the subcontinent.

South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who has 11 wickets, faces his biggest challenge against India. The South African bowlers have already shown great composure to ensure two wins—against New Zealand and the Netherlands. If one goes by form, India can be termed favourites.
