ICC world cup tickets are selling like hot cakes. Most non-India matches already sold out

Cricket enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly awaiting the ICC 2023 ODI World Cup, set to take place in India this October-November. In an encouraging news for BCCI and ICC, tickets for non-India matches, released on the official ticketing platform BookMyShow at 8 pm on August 25, are selling like hotcakes. This surge in ticket sales is particularly noteworthy, given the delays caused by the rescheduling of nine matches.

Among the teams capturing attention, Pakistan matches are already sold-out. Pakistan is playing in India for the first time since the 2016 T20 World Cup. Currently, four of Pakistan's games, two each in Kolkata and Bangalore, have already seen all tickets sold out. Additionally, all seven non-India matches scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru are completely sold out. In Kolkata, tickets for two out of three matches—the Pakistan versus Bangladesh match on October 31 and the Pakistan versus England match on November 11—have also been snapped up.

Ticket prices began at Rs 800. Only the match between The Netherlands and Bangladesh in Kolkata still has available tickets. Dharamsala, hosting four non-India games at the HPCA Stadium, also experienced rapid sales, with tickets for the Australia versus New Zealand match on October 28 being quickly sold out (with the lowest ticket price set at Rs 1,000).


A BCCI source told TOI, “The tickets for three non-India games at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai—England vs South Africa on October 21, South Africa vs Bangladesh on October 24, and Australia versus Afghanistan on November 7—sold out within 15 minutes."

As anticipation heightens, the sale of nine India league game tickets is scheduled to begin in phases starting from 8 pm on September 1. The demand is expected to be intense, and it remains to be seen how quickly these tickets will vanish. The first three matches, held in Chennai, Delhi, and Pune, will have their tickets released on August 31 at 8 pm. Following suit, the next three matches, set in Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Mumbai, will have their tickets available from September 1 at 8 pm.

Subsequently, tickets for India’s matches in Bangalore and Kolkata will be up for grabs starting September 2. The highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash at Ahmedabad will make tickets available from 8 pm on September 3. Lastly, tickets for the semifinals and the final match will be accessible from September 15 at 8 pm, promising further excitement for cricket enthusiasts.
