IND vs PAK World Cup 2023: India thrashes arch-rival Pakistan by 7 wickets; Rohit hits blistering 86
The Men in Blue on Saturday defeated arch-rival Pakistan by seven wickets after effortlessly chasing a target of 192 runs in 30.3 overs at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

During the chase, India faced a minor setback with the early dismissal of the returning Shubman Gill, who scored 16 runs. However, Rohit Sharma (85 runs) led the charge, contributing with 6 boundaries and 6 sixes, guiding the team for their eighth consecutive win over Pakistan in a 50-over World Cup encounter.

Rohit was in his element during the knock, unfurling those trademark pulls to put pressure on Pakistan bowlers. Sharma completed 300 sixes in the ODIs after hammering Haris Rauf for a boundary.

Shreyas Iyer (53*) hit the winning runs by striking a boundary and completed his half-century in 62 balls.

India chose to field first at the world's largest cricket stadium, where they managed to dismiss Pakistan for a mere 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

The fast-bowling trio of Jaspirt Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Hardik Pandya took a couple of wickets each.

Jasprit Bumrah won player of the match for taking crucial wickets of Rizwan and Shabad Khan. “We were bowling in the middle overs and I saw Jaddu's ball was turning, not too much but a little bit. I count my slower ball as a spinner's slower ball, one of those days where it came off,” said Bumrah in the post-match presentation.

Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with two wickets apiece as Pakistan were bowled out in 42.5 overs.

Skipper Babar Azam top-scored for Pakistan with 50 off 58 balls while Mohammad Rizwan made 49 off 69 balls.

From 155 for two, Pakistan collapsed to 191 all out.
