ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Opening Ceremony: Shreya Ghoshal, Papon and more; check who’s performing

The ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2. The tournament will feature eight teams competing in a round-robin format, with 31 matches spread over 34 days. The top four teams from the group stage will advance to the semifinals. Most matches will start at 3 PM IST, except for the New Zealand vs England match on October 26, which will begin at 11 AM IST.

This marks the fourth time India is hosting the Women's ODI World Cup, after 1978, 1997, and 2013, and the first time for Sri Lanka.

The opening ceremony will be held on September 30 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, just before the tournament’s opening match between India and Sri Lanka.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Friday that renowned singers Shreya Ghoshal and Papon will perform at the opening ceremony of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup in Guwahati on September 30.

He also mentioned that the Shillong Choir Chamber will take part in the event, and tributes will be paid to Zubeen Garg, who recently passed away in Singapore.

Saikia said, "Some of the famous singers from our region like Papon, Shreya Ghoshal, Shillong Choir Chamber will perform before the match and pay their tributes to Zubeen.

In a special musical tribute, it has been confirmed that acclaimed playback singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform in honor of Zubeen Garg during the break of the inaugural match. The tribute will also feature other notable regional artists, including Papon (Angarag Papon Mahanta), Joi Barua, and the Shillong Choir Chamber.
