Indian bowlers struggled in the second semi-final of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, where senior all-rounder Deepti Sharma registered the costliest bowling figures ever in a World Cup knockout match.
The off-spinner ended with figures of 2 for 73 in 9.5 overs, taking both wickets in the final over as Australia amassed 338 runs in 49.5 overs in Navi Mumbai. Previously, the record for the most expensive spell in a knockout game was held by England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who had returned 1 for 71 against Australia in the 2022 final.
