ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Prize Money

The ICC events are a big deal not just for cricket fans but also for the cricket boards. The T20 World Cup 2026 edition, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will feature 20 teams and follow a similar expanded format to the previous World Cup. However, the International Cricket Council has not yet announced the official prize money structure for the tournament set to begin from February 7.

Nonetheless, the ICC may build on the record-setting prize pool offered at the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

How much money did India take home after 2024 cricket World Cup?

At the 2024 tournament, the champions received the highest prize money in T20 World Cup history, reflecting the event’s growth and commercial scale. The winners, India, took home a multi-million dollar payout, while South Africa, the runners-up, earned at least $1.28 million.

The losing semi-finalists were awarded $787,500 each.

Teams that exited in the Super 8s and second round earned between $382,500 and $247,500, while sides finishing between 13th and 20th place received $225,000 each.

In addition, every team picked up $31,154 for each group-stage win, excluding the semi-finals and final.

The ICC described the 2024 edition as a landmark moment for the sport. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice had said at the time, “This event is historic in so many ways, so it is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that. Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be entertained by the players in what we’re hoping to be an Out of This World event.”

With the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 set to return to the subcontinent for the first time since 2016, expectations are high that the ICC will either match or exceed the 2024 prize pool, given the commercial pull of Indian venues, broadcast deals and fan interest.

However, as of now, the ICC has not released any official prize money figures for the 2026 edition.
