The mega cricket battle, Champions Trophy kicked off on Wednesday, bringing together the world’s top eight teams in Pakistan and Dubai for the coveted title. The February 19 to March 9 tournament marks the first time Pakistan hosts an ICC event in three decades, although some matches will be played in the United Arab Emirates after India refused to play in the neighbouring country, citing security reasons.

Virat Kohli once again lived up to his 'Chase Master' reputation, delivering a memorable knock to guide India to a six-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Champions Trophy group stage match on Sunday in Dubai.

Despite Pakistan throwing everything at him, Kohli remained an unshakable force, orchestrating a batting masterclass that not only secured India's victory but also pushed Pakistan to the brink of elimination.


During his stellar innings, Kohli reached the milestone of 14,000 ODI runs, further cementing his legacy while steering India to a dominant win.

Chasing 242, Rohit Sharma came out firing, launching a blistering attack on Naseem Shah before Shaheen Afridi’s inswinging yorker shattered his middle stump at 20 (15).

After a quick 31-run opening stand, Shubman Gill and Kohli steadied the innings with a balanced mix of caution and aggression. While Gill played the aggressor, Kohli anchored the partnership, ensuring India remained in control.

The top-two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, determining the two that will feature in the summit clash.

The two semi-finals will be played on March 4 and March 5 in Dubai and Lahore, respectively. The final is scheduled for March 9, and will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore unless India qualify, in which case it will be played in Dubai.
