As the marquee ICC Champions Trophy 2025 draws closer, the Indian cricket team will not be travelling to Pakistan for and wants to play their matches at a neutral venue, TOI reported on Friday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has communicated their decision to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and other stakeholders, as per TOI report and chances are that some matches will be played in Dubai.

"Yes, the BCCI has conveyed their concerns regarding Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan. They want to play matches at a neutral venue and Dubai is the strong candidate to host the fixtures involving the Men in Blue," a source tracking developments told TOI.

Dubai is a strong contender to host the tournament and the governing body also has the experience of hosting tournaments here, including the recent Women's T20 World Cup.

"There are no issues in Dubai. Hotels are not a problem, logistics not a problem, everything can be handled smoothly. And ICC does have things in control when it comes to Dubai," a source told TOI.

Champions Trophy 2025 Schedule to be rejigged

A draft of the schedule for the multi-nation tournament was made by the International Cricket Council (ICC), as per which India games were scheduled to be played in Lahore. However, there was no discussion on the draft and BCCI's latest decision will result in some modifications before the schedule is made public.

Moreover, ICC has also postponed the release of the ICC Champions Trophy schedule, which was originally planned for release on Monday.

The ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to begin on February 19 and conclude with the final match on March 9.
