Worries for India before the final: Hardik Pandya

Before this big final, Team India has had its share of worries. Concerns remain over Hardik Pandya’s fitness and whether he will take the field. The supremely talented all-rounder, along with batter Abhishek Sharma, who has been in sublime form in this tournament was off the field during the Sri Lanka contest due to cramps.

According to Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel, "Both of them struggled with cramps. Hardik, we will assess tonight and tomorrow morning and make a call. But both of them struggled with cramps. Abhishek is fine." Hardik is one of those players who can turn around the game with superb bowling and batting and he is also a live-wire on the field.

India’s unbeaten run so far

India hasn’t lost a match in this Asia Cup. They began their campaign with a dominant 9-wicket win over UAE, followed by a thumping 7-wicket victory against arch-rivals Pakistan. Against Oman, India experimented a bit, stretching the game, but eventually secured a 21-run win.

In the Super 4 stage, India once again got the better of Pakistan with a 6-wicket win, then beat Bangladesh by 41 runs, and finally defeated Sri Lanka in a thrilling Super Over finish. It has been smooth sailing for the Men in Blue so far, but the big occasion can sometimes bring unexpected pressure, and they will need to stay sharp.

Pitch talk
There’s always speculation about the pitch and how it will behave. According to TOI, the same surface used for the Super 4s contest will host the final. On that pitch, Pakistan batted first and posted 171, which was chased down with ease by Team India. All signs point to another run-fest in Dubai.
