Klopp is also expected to conclude his departure from his current role as Red Bull Group's head of global soccer during a meeting with the company's chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff in New York early next week. His contract with Red Bull reportedly includes a release clause that allows him to take charge of the Germany national team.
The DFB is expected to officially announce the appointment on Saturday, according to the report.
The move would mark Klopp's return to coaching for the first time since leaving Liverpool in 2024 after a trophy-laden spell at Anfield.
Klopp is set to replace Julian Nagelsmann, who stepped down after Germany's surprise exit in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a defeat to Paraguay. Nagelsmann, 38, had taken charge of the national team in September 2023 and guided Germany to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, where they lost to eventual champions Spain.
