FIFA World Cup 2014: Ban on Louis Suarez, and not on Juan Camilo Zuniga reveals an unfair judgement
Going by FIFA’s own logic, the governing body has beenferociously unfair in punishingLouis Suarez, the Uruguay star whose wizardry hoisted his teamto the WorldCup quarter-finals, ejecting England in the process.

What isthis logic?FIFA revealed this when it was under pressure to act against Colombian defender Juan Camilo Zuniga, whose knee cracked the vertebrae of Brazil star Pablo Neymar in an exceptionally rough game.

It did not take any action because the referee on the pitch had already dealth with the incident.Therefereedidnotevengive Zunigaayellowcardforknockingdown Neymar.

But FIFA simply uttered: "…inthisspecificcase, noretrospectiveactioncanbetakenbytheFIFA DisciplinaryCommittee, sincethe incidentinvolvingtheColombianplayer JuanCamiloZunigaMosqueradidnot escapethematchofficials..."

To stretch the logic further, Suarez has been banned for four months because an in competent refereed idnot notice a foul.

FIFA was mad with Suarez."Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at aFIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on thefield,"said Claudio Sulser,FIFA Disciplinary Committee chairman.

Thenwhat about, in BrazilianlegendRonaldo’swords, Zuniga’s "evil tackle"?Neymar himself accepted the offender’s apology but added "I cannot consider that a normal action", tearfully adding that he had escaped paralysis bymere inches.

Maybe there would have beena banon Zuniga if the referee had beenas incompetent as the one inwhichSuarez chomped an Italian.Maybe thingswould have beendifferent if Suarez had bitten a Brazilian.Orif Zuniga had cracked an English spine.
