The US claimed a historic third title in the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada earlier this week, swamping defending champions Japan 5-2, with three of the goals coming from the talismanic Carli Lloyd.

The American women’s domination in a game where their male counterparts lag by a fair distance gives us a chance to rewind to Canada 2015 as well as to delve into the state of Indian women’s football (hint: it's way way better than that of Indian men’s football).

The Manipur state football association is doing a lot to promote the game among girls and many of them have found a place in the national team.
