Bullingham said securing Tuchel early brings clarity and stability ahead of a demanding run of tournaments, noting the decision followed an “outstanding year” and straightforward talks in which both sides agreed they wanted to continue.
The FA had planned to review the partnership after World Cup qualification, but opted to act now rather than wait, arguing that fixed-term roles naturally prompt future planning before they expire.
Bullingham acknowledged the challenge ahead, citing tough opponents, scheduling demands and climate conditions, but said the FA believes it now has the right coaching team to pursue a historic goal: becoming only the third European nation to win a men’s World Cup outside Europe.
Tuchel will continue working with assistants Anthony Barry and Justin Cochrane alongside a broader technical staff, while the FA also aims to develop a pipeline of home-grown coaches for future national-team roles.
