England can lift 2019 World Cup trophy: Sir Vivian Richards

GUWAHATI: Former West Indies captain Sir Vivian Richards said that England was likely to lift the 2019 ICC World Cup as it would have the advantage of the home turf.

Richards, while talking to media persons here, said: “England has the ability to win the next World Cup. It is a side that is well-balanced and they would be playing in their own country. England has it all, but seems to fall short. Hopefully, they can pull it together. They have enormous talent.”

Richards said besides England, Australia, India and Pakistan are the other teams who stand a chance to lift the trophy.


When asked about Windies prospect of lifting the cup, he said “Hope we get lucky. The present team has not shown best of the form. However, in ODI format it depends how well you play on that day.”

Richards was part of the World Cup winning Windies team in 1975 and 1979.
