Dutee Chand aims for Rio Olympics after gold rush at National Open Athletics Meet
Promising Indian sprinter Dutee Chand - who recently won a landmark gender case against the world athletics governing body IAAF - may head to Chula Vista High Performance Training Centre in the United States to make the cut for 2016 Rio Olympics.

The 19-year-old Railways sprinter completed a treble at the National Open Athletics Meet by winning the 200m and 4x100m relay gold in addition to her 100m sprint title.

Dutee won the 100m-200m double at the Ranchi National Open two years ago but missed the last edition in Delhi while serving a ban under IAAF's 'hyperandrogenism' policy. Her appeal against the policy was partially upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Her first competition on returning was the National Junior Federation Cup last month where she won the 200m gold.

Dutee later said that she had spoken to Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who has assured her of three months of foreign training to meet the Olympic standard. "I told him that I need a minimum of three months' foreign training to achieve 23.20s (the qualification standard for Rio 2016) in 200m. I told him I want to go to Chula Vista and he has promised to send me there," Dutee told reporters after winning a triple gold medal on Saturday.

Dutee, who has a personal best of 23.56, clocked 23.69secs on Saturday to beat Srabani Nanda for the gold medal in 200m, the event in which she has the best chance to make the Olympic cut.

"I was off practice for about six months (because of the gender row) and due to that I don't have much endurance and stamina, the two most important things needed to peak in the 200m," Dutee added.

Her coach, Nagapuri Ramesh, is confident that Dutee can go under 23 seconds if given the right training. "Dutee had improved from 23.76 (Asian Championship 2013) to 23.56 in one year. Despite the turmoil she could clock her best time of the year."
