MUMBAI: DSK Shivajians Football Club, the first division I-League side owned and operated by the diversified business conglomerate DSK Group, has appointed Neel Shah as its CEO "to realise bigger goals".

Neel is known for his deep experience in the development and commercialisation of football in North America and Asia over the past 13 years, while holding senior positions with Major League Soccer, Dentsu and Libero Sports, a media release from the club said today.

He would now be instrumental in the management of the football club, its academy set up in partnership with iconic England club Liverpool FC, and programming partnerships for DSK Group's sports infrastructure projects, the release said.

Speaking on the appointment, Shirish Kulkarni, Executive Director of DSK Group and Chairman of DSK Shivajians FC, said, "DSK Group has ambitious plans to raise the level of football in the country from the ground up, and Neel Shah is the ideal person to lead us in achieving our objectives."

In his new role, Neel is to oversee the club, which is currently the newest entrant into the I-League. In addition, he will head operations for the Liverpool FC International Academy-DSK Shivajians (LFC-DSK), a residential youth programme, the release added.
