Manu Bhaker has made history by being the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. With a bronze in the 10m air pistol competition at the Chateauroux Range in France, at the young age of 22, she made history as the first Indian woman to earn a medal in shooting.

Bhaker is particularly happy with this victory because she was disappointed with a malfunctioning pistol at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. The sportsman, however, is not only passionate about shooting; in an internet video, Bhaker is shown at the MP Shooting Academy in Bhopal playing the national anthem on the violin.

Sharing the video on X, Sportstar wrote, “Manu Bhaker will be on the podium at the Paris Olympics.”

Bhaker, who scored 221.7 points, took home the bronze medal. With 0.1 points to spare, Kim Yeji's 10.5 put her just shy of the silver. The Olympic records were set by Koreans Yeji (241.3) and Oh Ye Jin (243.2), who took home silver and gold, respectively.
