Digvesh Rathi attempts a Mankad
In a high-stakes match for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where a win would seal a top-two finish, Jitesh Sharma played a captain's knock to lead his team to their highest successful chase in IPL history against Lucknow Super Giants. However, his knock was not short of drama.

There was an appeal for a non-striker run out (Mankad) when Digvesh Rathi whipped the bails off after stopping in his delivery stride. The bowler appealed and the umpires sent it upstairs to check. However, the umpire deemed Rathi to have completed his delivery stride before the attempt and gave it as not out. It was then learnt that LSG captain Rishabh Pant had withdrawn the appeal and it would remain not out even if the third umpire had favoured the bowling side.

Batting first at the Ekana Stadium, LSG posted 227/3, led by Rishabh Pant, who brought up his second IPL century in 54 balls. Mitchell Marsh added 67 off 37, and the pair shared 152 runs in 78 balls.

RCB’s reply started with a 61-run opening stand, helped by a steady 54-run knockl from Virat Kohli. From there, Jitesh Sharma, also leading RCB, stayed at the crease and built a crucial partnership with Mayank Agarwal. Jitesh brought up his first IPL fifty, ending on 85 not out off 33, while Mayank supported him with 41 runs off 23 balls. The pair added 107 runs off 45 balls to see RCB through.

The successful chase of 228 is now RCB’s highest in IPL history, and with it, they locked in a top-two finish, ensuring two chances to reach the IPL final.
