MUMBAI: Hemant Dua, cheif executive of Delhi Daredevils, the Delhi franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has stepped down.

Dua had been heading the then GMR Sports (now JSW GMR Cricket) since 2013. He will relinquish his position effective September 1. However, he will continue to serve on the board of the JSW GMR Cricket as a non-executive director.

“DD has been a part of my journey for some time now. The franchise is close to my heart and thus, I will always be available for the betterment of the franchise. I wish DD and its new management the very best in its endeavour to bring the trophy to our own city of Delhi,” Dua said.

Earlier in March, Sajjan Jindal-owned diversified business conglomerate, JSW Group, had announced acquisition of 50% stake in GMR Group-owned Delhi franchise of IPL.

While GMR had bought the Delhi franchise in 2008 for $84 million, JSW had paid Rs 550 crore for the 50% stake in the company.
