The two teams had also met in the inaugural final in 2023, when the Mumbai-based franchise became the first ever winners of the tournament. Meanwhile, this is DC's third consecutive final after having gone down to Royal Challengers Bengaluru last year.

The team from Delhi made it to the finals directly after finish on top of the points table, while Mumbai had to beat Gujarat Giants in the eliminator to book their berth in the final.

Led by the Australian legend, Meg Lanning, Delhi Capitals have asserted dominance in the league stages once again after finishing as table-toppers with five wins in eight matches and 10 points. Despite making their third final appearance in as many seasons, the Capitals are yet to lift the trophy. Having fallen short in the last two attempts, DCW will want to finally break their jinx and claim their maiden WPL title.


Mumbai Indians, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, have also won five out of eight league games, but missed out on a direct entry into the final due to a lower net run rate. They booked their spot in the final with a crushing 47-run victory over Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator. A win in the final would make them the most successful franchise in with two titles to their name.
