Chennai Super Kings made a strong comeback in the IPL 2024 playoffs race with a convincing 78-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. This win, following two consecutive losses, propelled them from sixth to third place in the IPL 2024 points table. Notably, veteran wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni's wife, Sakshi Dhoni, attended the match at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and her Instagram post during the game has garnered significant attention. In her post, she humorously urged the team to finish the game quickly as she is about to become an aunt. MS Dhoni's CSK teammates kept her request by dismissing Sunrisers Hyderabad inside 20 overs.

Supporting the team at Chepauk Stadium, Sakshi posted an Instagram story urging Chennai Super Kings to swiftly win the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. She humorously requested the team to finish the match quickly, revealing that she is soon to become an aunt. Sakshi's post humorously stated, "Please finish the game fast today @chennaiipl. Baby is on the way... Contractions have begun. Request from - to be Bua."

MS Dhoni rewrites IPL record books

Chennai Super Kings win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk also marked Dhoni's 150th IPL win, a record. In this IPL season, Dhoni's impactful batting has been evident, remaining unbeaten in all seven innings, scoring 96 runs at a strike rate of 259.46.

Following his side's 78-run loss to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins said that the team felt chasing was their best chance to win since the wicket was playing really well. On a dry pitch, Gaikwad fell two runs short of becoming the second batter to hit back-to-back IPL centuries, while Mitchell got his maiden fifty in the tournament as the duo carried CSK to a huge 212/3 in 20 overs. In reply, SRH were never in it to chase it down and were eventually bowled out for 134 in 18.5 overs, which is also their second straight attempt over not acing a batting second innings. Deshpande struck thrice in Power-play to pick IPL-best figures of 4-22 and lead a brilliant bowling performance for CSK.
