Cricketer Deepak Chahar, along with his wife Jaya Chahar, has floated a sports tech venture JCDC Sports, which has rolled out a fantasy sports gaming platform TFG (Trade Fantasy Game).

Deepak will be the brand ambassador of the platform while Jaya, who has been a media professional, will manage the operations as founder & CEO.

The cricketer, who represents Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, said the most unique feature is that users will have to build teams with only six players, compared to other apps that allow users to create a fantasy team with 11 players.

"The six-player fantasy team and the wild card (seventh player who would replace the lowest performing player in the user's original team of six) will be key unique features app...," Chahar told ET.

He also said that TFG will reward users who are loyal and play frequently on the platform. “We are in this business for the long haul and our aim is to be at the top,” he said.

JCDC Sports founder & CEO Jaya Chahar said the company is targeting 1 million downloads for the fantasy sports app by FY24. "Our revenue target is Rs 18 crore by FY25. We aim to be EBITDA positive from the third year," she said.

TFG will be charging 10-20% of the total prize pool created in a contest as platform fees from users.

To promote the new platform, the company will be spending Rs 3 crore in FY24. She said the company is focusing on digital marketing to promote the platform.

The company will leverage Deepak's social media following to promote the app. “I have not taken endorsement contracts from other fantasy platforms since I want to build my own platform,” he said.

Jaya noted that the fantasy team creation on the TFG is faster and simpler, which is one of the insights that the company had gained while doing consumer research.

"As per our research, users are not loyal to any particular platform because they have not brought them closer to their stars. At the end of the day, fantasy sports are all about fandom," she added.

The platform will also have features like fantasy clashes, trading of cards and venue statistics. “The platform will provide a lot of stats, which will help users to build a team,” Deepak said.
