Virat Kohli’s 55th ODI ton powers him to No. 2 in rankings

Veteran contender and a chase master, Virat Kohli climbed to second place in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings after his unbeaten 139 against the West Indies in the first ODI.

By smashing the 55th ODI ton of his career and his 86th international hundred across formats, ‘King’ Kohli earned a rating of 796, which enabled him to move up one place in the rankings.

Meanwhile, India captain Shubman Gill stays at the top with 816 rating points after also scoring a hundred in the same match. New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell, on 794 points, holds third place, preventing an all-Indian top three.

Former India captain Rohit Sharma is fourth with 719 rating points.

Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis climbed three places to a career-best seventh with 674 points after his 121 in Leeds. England's Harry Brook moved up one spot to 11th with 650 points after scoring a half-century at The Oval. He is now just three points behind Ireland's Harry Tector, who has 653.

South Africa's Temba Bavuma made a significant jump after his century against Australia, rising 10 places to 32nd with 556 points. His compatriot Matthew Breetzke climbed 19 spots to 21st with 607 points.

David Miller also returned to the ODI batting rankings at 41st after scoring 142 off 93 balls in the second ODI.
