'Very happy for the team', says Suryakumar Yadav; sends message to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

India's T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav has backed teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after his international debut, saying the 15-year-old is at the beginning of what promises to be a "very exciting" journey in international cricket.

Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to represent India when he made his T20I debut against England in the second match at Old Trafford, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar, who made his international debut at the age of 16.

"I am very happy for the team. I wish them nothing but the very best, always. I know the boys are giving their all and they will always have my full support," Suryakumar wrote on social media.

Addressing the youngster, he added, "A special word for Vaibhav you are at the start of what promises to be a very exciting journey. Enjoy every moment and keep making the country proud."

Suryakumar, who captained India to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year, was later dropped from the side following a prolonged lean run with the bat. Shreyas Iyer succeeded him as captain.
