Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to represent India when he made his T20I debut against England in the second match at Old Trafford, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar, who made his international debut at the age of 16.

"I am very happy for the team. I wish them nothing but the very best, always. I know the boys are giving their all and they will always have my full support," Suryakumar wrote on social media.

Suryakumar, who captained India to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year, was later dropped from the side following a prolonged lean run with the bat. Shreyas Iyer succeeded him as captain.
