India all-rounder Prema Rawat has surpassed Pakistan captain Fatima Sana's record to become the fastest batter to score a half-century in women's T20 cricket. The 24-year-old reached the milestone in just 14 balls while playing for Uttarakhand against Hyderabad in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy Elite match in Pune on Monday, November 2.

Rawat remained unbeaten on 50 off 14 deliveries at the MCA Cricket Stadium in Gahunje, smashing three fours and six sixes. Her explosive innings helped Uttarakhand post 187/2 in their allotted 20 overs. She also made an impact with the ball, returning figures of 2/12 in her four overs.

The previous record for the fastest fifty in women's T20 cricket was 15 balls. It was held jointly by England's Marie Kelly, New Zealand's Laura Harris and Pakistan captain Fatima Sana. Rawat's 14-ball effort has now taken the record a step further.
