Mitchell Starc claims No. 1 spot in ICC Test rankings after 10-wicket haul

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has claimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings for the first time after his 10-wicket haul helped Australia beat Bangladesh in the second match of their ICC World Test Championship series in Mackay.

The 36-year-old left-armer took six for 12 and four for 39 in Australia's innings and 51-run victory. He moved ahead of Matt Henry and Jasprit Bumrah, with a 10-point lead over the Indian pacer.

Starc's previous best ranking was second, which he first achieved after the Boxing Day Test last year. He was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series.

Bumrah's latest spell at the top lasted two months. He has spent a combined 697 days as the No. 1 bowler, the most by an Indian bowler and the 14th-most ever. He was ruled out of India's ongoing series against Sri Lanka due to injury.

England's Ollie Robinson moved up 15 places to 11th after taking five for 51 and three for 39 in England's innings and 103-run win over Pakistan in Leeds. He was named Player of the Match.

Josh Tongue, who took eight wickets at Headingley, climbed 16 places to 17th. India's left-arm spinner Manav Suthar rose 28 places to a career-best 48th after taking 10 wickets in India's 165-run win over Sri Lanka in Galle.

Sri Lanka's Asitha Fernando and Prabath Jayasuriya moved up five places to 15th and 16th, respectively.

Australia's Nathan Lyon climbed two places to 10th, while Pakistan's Ali Usman rose 30 places to 67th. England's Jofra Archer moved up six places to joint-38th, India's M Prasidh Krishna climbed two places to 53rd and Bangladesh's Shoriful Islam rose 17 places to 57th.

Brook leads batting rankings

England batter Harry Brook has doubled his lead at the top of the Test batting rankings to 24 rating points over team-mate Joe Root.

Brook scored 90 and Root made 66 to retain the top two positions. India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant returned to the top 10 for the first time in a year after scores of 39 and 66. He moved up six places to seventh.

Australia's Cameron Green climbed nine places to 21st, Sri Lanka's Dhananjaya de Silva moved up two places to 22nd and Sonal Dinusha jumped 49 places to 54th.

Pakistan's Abdullah Shafique rose seven places to joint-27th, India's KL Rahul moved up five places to 30th and Devdutt Padikkal re-entered the rankings at 59th.
